    painful arthritis or a stroke
if your cat had ever been outside then it could even be from an injury. Please take the old dear to a vet to make sure and to get treatment if there is anything wrong.

Back, leg and neck problems. Arthritis doesn’t come on suddenly, so it’s a recent injury. Your vet should see if there’s a cracked bone, pulled muscle or something worse going on.

There could be a number of reasons but it’s likely to be old age, you really should take it to a vet
    xxx hope he/she gets better

    The above answers are good.

But also diabetes can cause back leg problems and the cat cannot jump properly. But it is more of a weakness of the back legs than a stiffness.

My old 21 yr old couldnt’ walk so well before I had her put to sleep.
I gave her chairs so she didn’t have to jump so high. Or a ramp.

sounds like the muscles are not working as well as they use to. I found that things would come on suddenly in my old girl.

might be a stroke. this happened to my bf’s cat. she’s 16 and they had to take her to the vet because they didnt know what was wrong and found out she had a stroke. it was so sad we thought she was gonna die but you know she could’ve, but instead survived fortunately.
