How can I loosen a calf muscle that is stiff when I run?

It does not hurt when I am not running and I also feel stiffness in my ankle and knees.

You can buy a roller for your foot from any Bed and Bath type store. These cost under $10 and are so very much worth it. If you roll your foot over the wooden roller, you will be stretching your calf muscle ever so gently; after a few minutes, you will feel the relief.

I had plantar fasciitis for a long time and treated with a podiatrist (unsuccessfully) for over six months, doing calf stretching exercises he prescribed. It was not until my massage therapist told me about the foot roller that my foot and calf got better.
